Hartung Brothers has recently ventured into the production of organic pickling cucumbers, bringing agribusiness sized efficiency to the organic production process. Located 15 miles northwest of the Wisconsin Dells, the unique operation uses both handpick and machine harvested methods to produce cucumbers of any desired size, from 1″ baby cucumbers to 2″ whole-pack cucumbers, with organic relish and chip stock produced along the way.
While agriculture is an uncertain business, Hartung Brothers has developed a rigorous program of field supervision and “pre-grading” the crop prior to harvest. Pregrading enables the company to predict sizing outcomes shortly prior to harvest, and supply customers with their contracted product on-time.
